Concepts in Systems Biology Empty Concepts in Systems Biology

This is an interesting and engaging module, however, it can be quite frustrating at times due to ambiguity. The group presentation aspect (30%) is quite exciting; coming up with your own solution to a biological sciences related issue and it can be applied to all areas of biological sciences so you can make it fit in with your other modules. I did find the group work took up quite a lot of time due to the amount of detail and clarity expected. The weighting for asking questions on the presentations is quite high (20%) which does mean you have to be willing to actively contribute and motivated to attend all the sessions. The exam (50%) is an essay and you are told the question at the start of the module so you have plenty of time to prepare and you don't need to revise lots of content, however, because of the ambiguity in terms of what systems biology actually is you do need to draw your own conclusions and put in outside work. This can be frustrating if you are not used to theorising and do not like ambiguity being used to the fact and answers which you usually encounter in biological sciences.
