This is a really interesting module it allows for a lot of interesting debate and discussion around global food security and current solutions, particularly with regards to GM in agriculture. The essay is 1000 words and this years topic had a lot of scope and allowed for some very interesting discussion, it is one of the few essays that I have actually enjoyed writing! It is helpful to have taken the Year 2 Plant Biotechnology module prior to taking this so that you have a good understanding of the processes involved in genetic modification and engineering. The seminars are divided up so that each member of a group gives a 20 minute presentation (4x 20 min presentations per session) and there is then a group discussion where classmates ask questions. You are allowed to choose you groups and bid for certain topics from the list which means you can do you seminar on a topic that is of particular interest to you.
