Evolution in deep time

Fairly good unit. Nick Longrich took over from Matt Wills this year (not sure if it will change back but both good lecturers and at least half are guest lecturers from the department which gives it a bit more range). This was good since he’s happy for you to choose your own two essays rather than have a compulsory one. This means lectures are optional though interesting and you can do whatever you’re interested in. He’s also happy to discuss topics and move deadlines if necessary, plus he provides feedback on your first essay to help your second. I think he said he'd give you a topic if you were struggling to think of one. If you want an easy unit to get out of the way before exams, this is it.
Slight warning: if Nick has it again next year, it's a bit interactive. Nothing to do with your grade but it means lectures can overrun or drag on a bit.
